Privacy policy.
What we collect, why we collect it, who can see it, what AI agents can and cannot get, and how to make all of it go away.
Looking for the shorter version in plain language? The FAQ answers most of this.
01
Who we are
Vouch is a verified human review platform operated by Dial Labs LLC. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website and app, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and the control you have over it.
Vouch runs on things people reasonably consider private: where you went, what you thought of it, and who you turn out to resemble. We have written this policy to be read rather than scrolled past. If any part of it is unclear, write to david@diallabs.so and we will explain it, and then fix the wording.
02
Information we collect
Information you give us directly. This includes your phone number, your email address, the display name you choose, your gender and birth year if you give them, your answers to the taste quiz, the reviews and ratings you write, the dishes you log, the occasion tags you apply, and any photographs you upload.
Verification information. To confirm that a review reflects a real visit, we may process a location check at the moment you write it, a photograph of a receipt, or a payment fingerprint supplied by our payment processor. We describe how each of these is handled in the verification section below.
Information collected automatically. When you use Vouch we receive device and log information such as your device type, operating system, app version, IP address, approximate region derived from that IP address, the pages and places you viewed, and the searches you ran.
Information from other sources. If you choose to connect an AI assistant of your own, we receive whatever taste information you direct it to share. If you sign in through a third party service, we receive the basic account identifiers that service provides. We also process publicly available business information, such as restaurant menus and opening hours, which is information about businesses rather than about you.
Gender and birth year are used only to match you with reviewers like you and to confirm you meet the age requirement. You can answer Prefer not to say. They are never shown to other members.
We do not ask for your legal name, your home address, or your full date of birth.
03
How we use information
To compute your compatibility and your predicted scores. Your quiz answers and your review history place you in the compatibility graph. This is what allows Vouch to weight a review by how closely that reviewer resembles you rather than averaging strangers. This is the core purpose of the service.
To operate the product. Creating and securing your account, showing you reviews and rankings, sending you service messages about your account, and providing customer support.
To verify that experiences are real. Confirming visits, detecting duplicate accounts, and identifying coordinated manipulation, which is described in more detail below.
To improve the product. Understanding which features are used, diagnosing errors, and testing changes. Wherever this can be done with aggregated or de-identified data, it is.
To meet legal obligations. Responding to lawful requests, enforcing our terms, and keeping the records the law requires us to keep.
We do not use your personal information to serve you advertising, and we do not build profiles of you across other companies' websites.
04
Our legal bases, if you are in the EU or the UK
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, we rely on the following legal bases. Performance of a contract, for the processing needed to give you the service you signed up for, including computing your scores. Legitimate interests, for security, fraud prevention, and product improvement, balanced against your rights. Consent, for anything optional, such as connecting your own AI assistant or enabling location, which you may withdraw at any time. Legal obligation, where a law requires the processing.
05
Verification information, specifically
Location. If you choose location as your verification method, we check whether your device is near the place you are reviewing at the moment you write the review. We record that the check passed or failed. We do not retain the coordinates, and Vouch does not run background location. If you close the app, we do not know where you are. If you would rather not share location, you can verify with a receipt instead.
Receipts. A receipt photograph is used to confirm a visit and is stored separately from your public profile, with access limited to the people and systems that need it for verification and fraud review.
Payment fingerprints. We store a one way hash of a payment fingerprint provided by our payment processor, which lets us tell that two accounts belong to the same person without our ever seeing or storing your card number. Full card details stay with the processor and never reach Vouch.
Behavioral signals. We analyze patterns across accounts, such as bursts of reviewing activity and unusual co-rating relationships, to detect review farms and paid shills. This analysis looks at patterns rather than at the content of your private information.
06
What other members can see
Visible by default. Your display name, your taste archetype, your compatibility percentage with the member viewing you, and the reviews you have published. Attribution is the point of the product, because a review with no reviewer attached is exactly the thing Vouch exists to replace.
Not visible by default. Your individual quiz answers, your gender, your birth year, your phone number, your email address, your verification records, and your full review history. Full history is available to members you have mutually connected with, or to everyone only if you choose to make it public.
You are never required to use your real name. You can change your display name and adjust these settings at any time.
07
AI, agents, and the API
AI never writes a review on Vouch. Every review comes from a verified account with a verified visit behind it.
AI is used for infrastructure. It extracts menus from restaurant websites, matches dish names to one another, and supports fraud detection. If you explicitly connect your own assistant, it can also help enrich your taste profile, and you can disconnect it at any time.
What API clients can access. Vouch offers a paid interface for AI agents. Through it, clients can access information about places: menus, structured review content, occasion rankings, freshness dates, and aggregate scores. This is information about restaurants, not about you.
What API clients cannot access. A personalized prediction, meaning what a specific person is likely to think of a specific place, is returned only to that same person's own connected agent, and only after that person has granted consent. Your agent can ask about you. Nobody else's agent can. We do not sell access to your profile, your identity, or your individual quiz answers.
09
How long we keep information
We keep your account information and your contributions for as long as your account is open. Verification records are kept only as long as needed for fraud prevention and for any period the law requires. Device and log information is kept for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.
When you delete your account, we remove your profile, your quiz answers, your reviews, and your photographs from Vouch. Two honest exceptions apply. Aggregate figures that your contributions already fed into, such as a place's overall score, are not recalculated backwards, and nothing in them identifies you. We also retain the minimum fraud and legal records we are required to retain, for as long as we are required to retain them.
Falling below the monthly contribution requirement is an access rule, not a data rule. Lapsing suspends your ability to view other members' recommendations. It does not delete your information, change your privacy settings, or move your reviews anywhere new. If you want your information gone, delete your account, which is a separate and immediate action.
10
Your choices and your rights
Access and export. You can export everything you have contributed, as a file, from your settings.
Correction. You can edit your display name, your quiz answers, and your reviews at any time.
Deletion. You can delete your account from your settings, without writing to anyone, subject to the exceptions described above.
Permissions. Location and notifications are controlled by your device settings and can be withdrawn at any time. A connected AI assistant can be disconnected at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, to request a copy of your information in a portable format, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. For anything the self service tools do not cover, write to david@diallabs.so and we will respond within the period the applicable law allows. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
12
Security
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Internal access is limited to the people who need it for a specific job and is logged. Verification material such as receipt photographs is stored separately from your public profile.
No system is perfect, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. If we experience a breach that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires, promptly and in plain language, and we will tell you what to do about it.
13
Age limit
Vouch is for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete it. If you believe a minor has given us information, write to david@diallabs.so.
14
International transfers
Vouch operates from the United States, and information we collect is processed there. If you use Vouch from outside the United States, you are transferring information to a country whose data protection laws may differ from your own.
Where we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on approved safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
15
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the product grows. If a change meaningfully affects your rights or what we collect, we will tell you before it takes effect, through the app or by email, rather than quietly updating the date at the top of the page.
Previous versions are available on request.
